Nutrition
This is the most important Lifestyle Choice
that you must make.
“Nutrition is the provision, to cells and organisms, of the materials necessary (in the form of food) to support life. Many common health problems can be prevented or alleviated with good nutrition”.
Nutrition
This is the most important of all the choices as your life and your health depends on what you eat and drink and more importantly on what you should be eating and drinking.
It is interesting to read Wikipedia’s definition of nutrition.
“Nutrition is the provision, to cells and organisms, of the materials necessary (in the form of food) to support life. Many common health problems can be prevented or alleviated with good nutrition”.
Nutrition is all about food; specifically what we eat and drink. However, it is important to remember why you are eating and what you are “feeding” ?
We are eating to “support life” and to feed your bodies cells the necessary “nutrients” to enable them to generate the vital energy to perform at their peak at all times. The cells are the core of your life, and the oxygen and the food nutrients are the fuel required to feed them and keep them working optimally.
Bear in mind.
Always “Eat to Live”
– feed your cells for Optimum Health and Ultimate Wellness
NEVER “Live to Eat”
– this results in Obesity, Disease and Premature Death
What “Nutrients” does your body need ?
Optimum nutrition is consuming the best possible nutrients to enable your body to process these nutrients and feed the body to enable it to be healthy. However we are all unique, so there is no one solution.
Your “lifestyle” is the blueprint and therefore your lifestyle choices are the only way to control your health and wellness.
Ideally the body needs about fifty essential nutrients on a regular basis to achieve optimum nutrition. ”Essential” means that the body cannot synthesize these nutrients so they must be obtained through our diet.
In summary these nutrients can be categorized into the following groups.
Carbohydrates, fats, fibre, proteins (amino acids, enzymes), vitamins and minerals together with oxygen, water and sunshine. Some argue that exercise is a nutrient.
Your Nutrition Assessment
This assessment is focused on people without a chronic disease – for people with Cancer see the Information at the end of this article – “Your Cancer Diet”
The basic questions you need to ask yourself about nutrition are the following;
- Are you eating 5 or more servings a day of natural whole living foods, like fresh fruit, raw vegetables, salads, nuts, seeds, herbs, whole grains and nutritional grasses ? (fresh fruit and vegetable juices are included in this category)
- Are you balancing your food intake with 70% alkaline forming foods and 30% acid forming foods ? ( see article on an Alkaline Diet)
- Are you consuming between 50% and 60% natural complex carbohydrates in your diet ?
- Are you consuming between 15% and 20% essential fatty acids including at least Omega 3 ?
- Are you consuming between 15% and 20% protein including the essential amino acids and enzymes ? (Fruit and Raw vegetables are packed with enzymes)
- Are you drinking at least 8 glasses of pure or alkalized water a day ?
- Are you supplementing any nutrient deficiencies with vitamins, minerals, amino acids, superfoods and especially enzymes ?
The key nutrition actions you should be taking to ensure a healthy lifestyle are the following:
- Limit your consumption of acidic foods and drinks, especially all processed foods, fast foods and soft and diet drinks that contain toxic additives, colourants or preservatives.
- Limit your refined and sugar carbohydrates, especially table sugar, corn syrup, cakes, sweets, white bread, jams and packaged cereals.
- Limit or stop consuming any foods with saturated fat, especially hydrogenated oils and trans fats. (don’t confuse these with essential fatty acids like omega 3 which are “essential” for your body.)
All of these points are covered in more detail in the 22 Lifestyle Choices Series (LINK)
In summary:
It is very important to assess your ”own diet” ( see next Lifestyle Choice) and to make the necessary changes and decide if you need to supplement your ”own diet” to maximize what you are feeding your cells.
This could include essential vitamins, minerals, amino acids, enzymes, essential fatty acids and superfoods, depending on your diet.
Most people these days take a good Multi-vitamin and Mineral supplement, which we highly recommend. If, however you want to significantly improve your health and wellness you should include a “SuperFood” regimen and supplement enzymes in your diet. This will make all the difference and is easy to fit into your daily routine with smoothies.
Now that you understand how “nutrition” forms the foundation of your “Lifestyle” blue print Journey” let’s look at the next Lifestyle Choice – “Your Own Diet”.
Cancer Nutrition
For all of us that have Cancer I have written a special article on Cancer Nutrition, and what you can eat and what you cannot eat, with links to various proven Cancer Diets and my own diet that I have followed for the last year.
Unique
You must be aware that there are no 2 people the same and there are no 2 cancers the same, even if they have the same label. This means that every person must have a unique cancer diet and not generalize because some foods react differently in every body.
Energy and Healing Frequencies.
All foods and all cancers have a specific energy frequency and everybody is governed by a “healing frequency” which is affected by the food and the cancer frequencies.
Energy Therapist.
This is why you will see in my article on “My Cancer Support Team” that my “Energy Therapist” is one of the most important in my Team.
An Energy Therapist will customize your diet for you by selecting the foods that will boost your “healing frequency” giving you the very best chance of killing off the cancer.
I will be setting up the Cancer Nutrition / Diet page soon.
Good Luck.
